During this 90-minute class you will work every muscle, tendon, ligament, joint and internal organ in your entire body, giving you an incredible sense of accomplishment and well being. Whatever your age, injury, or prior yoga experience (if any at all), this yoga will benefit your body and mind in ways you could never imagine!
The 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises systematically move fresh, oxygenated blood to one hundred percent of your body helping to restore all systems to healthy working order. We heat the room to allow your muscles to relax, allowing for a safer stretch and to get your blood pumping! You are given clear, step-by-step instructions so you are able to work to your personal edge. The precise movements help you to gain flexibility, strength and endurance, creating a more balanced body inside and out.
Sure, you might find yourself practicing next to a super flexible Gumby type but if you look around the room you’ll also see someone working on healing an injured knee or a “bad” back, maybe someone trying to lose weight or somebody else just working on balance. Focusing on doing as much as you can correctly for YOUR body that day you will get you 100% benefit!
All WARM Pilates classes are 60 minutes long
“The instructors make this class fun and upbeat. I can feel the difference in my core strength!”– Ember K.
WARM Pilates at Gulf Coast Yoga is a 60 minute basic mat class based upon the principals created by Joseph Pilates. It is a safe, non-impact core strengthening workout. Using our own bodies as resistance we build strong core muscles that are one of the keys to all over health. Some of the many benefits include increased flexibility, improved balance, all over back and spine support, long and lean muscles as well as improved posture.
The room is gently heated to help our muscles warm up more quickly (85- 90 degrees, considerably cooler than our HOT Yoga classes!) and each class includes instruction from level one through level three, allowing individuals to be challenged up to current ability.
WARM Pilates classes at Gulf Coast Yoga are fun, challenging and perfect for beginners through experienced practitioners. The instructors are able to teach ALL LEVELS in every class so if it’s your first time or your 1005th, you’ll be in great hands!
* develop core strength
* create long, lean muscles

ALL WARM YIN CLASSES ARE 75 MINUTES LONG
“A 75 minute slice of heaven!”- David P. , student
Yin Yoga is exercise for the joints. It is a slow-paced style of yoga with poses that are done on the floor and held for longer periods of time—three to five minutes or more per pose is typical. This a very effective, yet gentle, way to open up tight or injured places in your body. Your teacher will safely and slowly guide you into a pose, where you will remain long enough for your body to open and then carefully move into the Savasana (resting pose) and hold that for a few minutes allowing for recovery (rebound).
The intent of a Yin Yoga pose is to lengthen and loosen the connective tissue within the body. This connective tissue, also called fascia, is a fibrous network of tissue that surrounds the muscles and organs, and is also the structure of bones, ligaments , and tendons. As the connective tissues stretch and loosen, the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and ultimately the joints can begin to regain their optimal range of motion, allowing for improved flexibility and movement. The use of blankets, towels, blocks, and bolsters is encouraged to promote relaxation into the poses by decreasing the stress on the muscles and body parts not engaged in the pose.
WARM Yin Yoga is a great way to use relaxation to open up the tight places in your body. Yin is excellent for golfers, runners and other athletes looking for a way to stay flexible and strong… also great for people that are recovering from an injury or illness. At Gulf Coast Yoga we gently heat the room to a comfortable temperature so you can relax into the poses more easily.
